A leading technology company is looking for a highly experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join its multidisciplinary R&D organization.
The role focuses on the development of sophisticated mechanical and opto-mechanical products, taking ownership of engineering activities from concept and detailed design through prototyping, integration, testing, and volume production.
You will work in a highly multidisciplinary environment, collaborating closely with Optical Engineers, Electronics Engineers, Industrial Designers, Manufacturing, and other R&D teams.
Key Responsibilities
Lead mechanical and opto-mechanical development of new products from concept through production.
Design ruggedized mechanical and opto-mechanical systems intended to operate under demanding environmental conditions, including temperature extremes, shock, vibration, and immersion.
Design and package optical components and assemblies, including single-lens level opto-mechanical integration.
Design mechanical parts and components for complex plastic injection molding applications.
Design and package electronic boards and assemblies, including understanding of electronic components at board level.
Work closely with Optical Engineers on the mechanical integration and alignment of optical elements.
Collaborate with Industrial Designers to translate product concepts into manufacturable mechanical solutions.
Support technology and manufacturing processes including CNC machining, pressure die casting, investment / wax casting, and plastic injection molding.
Support prototypes, testing, design iterations, and transfer to serial production.
Provide engineering solutions to complex mechanical and opto-mechanical challenges.
B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering.
10+ years of experience in mechanical product development.
3+ years of hands-on experience in opto-mechanical engineering, including packaging and integration of optical elements at single-lens level.
Strong experience with mechanical design for challenging environmental conditions.
Excellent knowledge of SolidWorks.
Strong understanding of manufacturing technologies, including CNC machining, pressure die casting, investment / wax casting, and plastic injection molding.
Experience with electronic board packaging and mechanical integration – an advantage.
Experience designing flexible cable / harness solutions – an advantage.
Ability to work independently as well as effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
Strong problem-solving, engineering, and communication skills.
